Mommy and Daddy Got To Hold Me!

I am 2 weeks old now and I'm big enough and strong enough (2 pounds, 6 ounces now!) for Mommy and Daddy to hold me for a little while at a time. They can't hold me for very long periods of time because I'm still so small, I get cold pretty fast and they have to put me back in my warm bed but I sure do enjoy the time I get to spend in their arms. I think they were both pretty nervous when they held me for the first time but they did just fine! They also got to hear me cry for the first time this week!

New Kid On The Block

My first week has been pretty eventful! I lost a little weight, which they tell my mommy and daddy is normal for every baby, but I didn't have much to lose in the first place! My weight went down to 1 pound, 15 ounces but it didn't take me long to gain it back. I've started to get mommy's milk through a tube that goes down into my tummy. They feed me 3 cc's every 8 hours! I had to have a blood transfusion because they have been taking so much of my blood to do lab work that I couldn't keep up with the demand. I was breathing on my own when I was born but that was making me very tired so they put me on a ventilator to help me breathe without using quite so much energy. Hopefully they can take me off of it soon. They also had to put me under something called a bili light for a little while because I had a touch of jaundice and I had to wear a special headband to protect my eyes , but I'm all better now. My Nana got to touch me for the first time when I was under the light and Mommy took a picture of my foot next to Daddy's hand.

Ready Or Not, Here I Come!

Emmaline Elizabeth Anderson came out to meet us 11 weeks ahead of schedule on June 18, 2009 at 3:20 p.m. at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. She was 14.5 inches long and absolutely perfect! She is breathing on her own and other than having to spend the next several weeks in the hospital in order to grow bigger, she is perfectly healthy! We are so thankful to God for our precious miracle, Emmy!
